Joe here with the latest from the weekend.. Where the Wild Things Are, the new drama of childhood by Spike Jonze, debuted at number one at the Box Office this week, taking in $32.5 million. Law Abidding Citizen opened in second place with $21.3 million in earnings. Paranormal Activity, helped by a widening release, actually moved up from fourth last week to third this week, earning $20.2 million. Couples Retreat fell from first to fourth with $17.9 million, and The Stepfather opened in fifth place with $12.3 million.
The New Yorker has a lengthy and quite interesting article about James Cameron, covering not only Avatar - his latest, maybe greatest - but also the man: his tumultuous marriages, his obsessions, his God complex. Jackie Earle Haley - the best part of The Watchmen - is up for the role as the baddy in the Green Latern film. The full trailer for the Russian film Black Lightning is up - directed by the man behind Wanted and other visual spectacles of films. In game news, the first reviews for Borderlands are screaming out of the gate - generally quite positive! And a couple more early reviews for Dragon Age, Bioware's spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate franchise - these out of Europe, and also very positive. Like the Thief series? Still own a copy of Doom 3? Then this is for you! Yep.
