Joe here with a roundup of the latest happenings for this weekend. Let's start with games first. Check out Steve's impressions of various games he got his hands on this week, including the Aion beta, Section 8, America's Army 3, and Battlefield Heroes. GoGamer has a new 48 hour madness up right now. There's nothing earth shattering, though the Oblivion/Bioshock pack is a no-brainer if you never played those two. You can also pre-order Aion for $39.99, with a couple of cool bonuses. Steam has the beautiful racing game GRID on sale this weekend (50% off, landing at $14.99).
Valve released the above screenshot of the swamp capaign in Left 4 Dead 2, and revealed that the AI director will have control over the weather. Which could be pretty cool. Shacknews brings word that Alan Wake may not make it to the PC at all. Which would not be cool. Bioware let loose a developer diary for Mass Effect 2 that basically shows footage from E3, but with developer commentary. Worth a look. And Gametrailers is hosting some exclusive in-game trailers for Uncharted 2, specifically one that takes place in a rather cold looking area. Pretty cool stuff. In movie news, the biggest thing shaking up the Interwebs this Saturday morning is word that Ryan Reynolds will be Green Lantern. That would mark his third comic-book movie appearance, assuming you count Blade 3 as a comic book movie. It'll be interesting to see if he manages to be both Green Lantern (DC) and Deadpool (Marvel). Green Lantern will be directed by Martin Campbell, who is most famous for successfully rebooting the Bond franchise twice (once with Goldeneye and again with Casino Royale). For all you Ghostbusters fans, Harold Ramis has made a seven minute long video that features him talking about the possibility of a Ghostbusters 3 flick. And for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost fans - of which I consider myself one - there is a new video blog out providing more information about what exactly is their new film, Paul. PS. Al and I saw The Hangover last night. Check out my review here. The word in brief? I liked it. |

Joe here, with quick but cool news: Mechwarrior 4, and all its expansion packs, are going to be released free to download. It's certainly a great way to promote Mechwarrior 5, and I'm all in favor of free games! |

What happens when you can never play a game again (without significant hassle setting up a server yourself, if anyone even bothers to build pirate version of it)? Massively Multiplayer games, so far, have generally stayed online since their beginning (with the exception of Anarchy Online, and I'm sure a few others)...but it can't last. Clicky da link below: MMO Ghost Towns... |

Dear readers, I am Dr. Loctor, physician to the stars, or, rather, to those who are seeing stars. Early this morning we found Steve in a hysteric state of giggling and, ahem... "Whoop-whoop"ing. He was immediatly transported to Dr. Loctor's Moc Hoctor Hospital and treated with depressing images, but we could not bring him back down to normal, depressed, levels of every-dayness. Steve seems to be suffering greatly, he can't stop smiling and making "Crash, Crash, WHEEER, 'target sighted!' KABOOM!" noises. We believe it has something to do with what he was looking at online when we found him. The link to that is forth coming, as in forthwith, as in click on me. IGN has, apparantly, released official word and an in game video of the new MechWarrior game in development. It appears that this is a reboot of the franchise, may contain 4 player co-op, and all the mechy goodness that has been missing from Steve's life for a long time. We will continue to administer depressing facts to him, like the fact he has to pay his bills soon, and hope to have him back on his feet soon. Oh, also, WHOOO! MECH WARRIOR IS BACK, BABY! Ahem... sorry about that little outburst... |
